A Birthday Celebration

Last night we had a family birthday celebration for me, Kristin & Peter. Peter's birthday is not until February 12th, but they went to California today so we decided to give his presents early. Kristin and I started off by getting pedicures in the afternoon. Then in the evening we had a wonderful time with good food made by mom and wonderful presents. For the first time in 24 years it actually snowed on our birthday. We always wanted it to snow so that we wouldn't have school on our birthday...it finally happened but it doesn't matter anymore since we're not in school! Anyway, I've got some pictures from last night. Hope you enjoy.

Cora Update

I just got back yesterday from a fabulous time in St.Louis just relaxing and spending time with Amy, Brian and Cora. I had a blast playing with Cora a lot of the time and probably laughing too much when I shouldn't have. :) The only word that she used to say was "please" but now she says "uh-oh" for everything...and I mean everything - she drops something "uh-oh", the microwave turns off "uh-oh". It's really cute. Sometimes she stand there and tell you a story and if you ask her what else happened she'll keep on talking - of course we can't understand a word, but it is so adorable. In my opinion her new favorite toy is her baby doll that she got for Christmas from Kristin and Peter (she almost had a meltdown when she had to give up the doll in order to eat dinner!) That's about all I have for now. I think Kristin and I are hoping to go down together at some point but not sure when. Below are some pictures from my weekend. She really is growing up fast!!

A Quote from Tozer

I've started reading The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer and my spirit has already been stirred just by reading the introduction. Here is just a short portion of what I've read so far:

"For it is not mere words that nourish the soul, but God Himself, and unless and until the hearers find God in personal experience they are not the better for having heard the truth. The Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to bring men to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him, that they may delight in His presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and center of their hearts." (Tozer, The Pursuit of God, pg. 9)

Winter in Chicago!

"When it's cold outside, there's no need to worry 'cause I'm so warm inside"
(Just a little serenade from John Legend)

So I've just gotten home from the baby shower for Sarah Bishop. The plan was to drive back to Chicago tonight, but it is so incredibly cold that for safety reasons (and my parents sanity) I've decided to stay an extra night in St. Louis and drive home Sunday morning. As we speak the wind chill in Chicago is -20F (-29C) and is only due to get colder as the night goes on. Although I have a very reliable car, if something were to happen such as a flat tire it would be dangerously cold for me to be sitting in my car. Hence, one more night to hang with the family and have fun with Cora. I'll post pics from the weekend once I get home.
